We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Norman Hew-Shue. After a brief battle with cancer and Covid-19, he passed away peacefully in his sleep at Sunnybrook Hospital at the age of 75. Born and raised in Jamaica, Norman dedicated his career to science, particularly in the biology of living things. He held several positions in universities and hospitals across Jamaica before moving to Canada to join Toronto General Hospital’s Surgical Pathology Lab, where he retired after 30 years of service.
Norman will be best remembered for his kind and helpful nature, his thirst for knowledge, and his showmanship at karaoke and talent shows. He dedicated much of his time to preserving the cultural heritage of the Jamaican Hakka Chinese, and was actively involved in the Tsung Tsin Association. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, his son, Mark, and his daughter-in-law Vivian. He will be reunited in Heaven with his beloved son, Ramon.
